5 out of 5.ĭISNEY FAIRIES: SECRET OF THE WINGS GRAPHIC NOVEL I’ll be making sure this book joins my burgeoning graphic novel collection in my children’s collection at my library when it hits shelves on July 22. It’s a great addition to summer reading – what little Disney Princess-loving girl isn’t going to want this on her bookshelf? Antonello Dalena and Manuela Razzi are both Disney and Papercutz vets, and their experience is on display here. The colors are bright and happy, exactly what you’d expect from a Disney story. The art is gorgeous, with a great mix of sequential panels and full-page art. They make it a lot easier for me to preach comics to kids. I love graphic novels for younger children and Papercutz is fantastic at putting out consistently quality material for kids, with titles like Disney, Geronimo Stilton, and Lego Ninjago. It’s perfect for a younger audience of developing readers or a more confident reader who just loves Disney. The book is straightforward Disney – there’s a little romance, a little drama, and everything is nicely resolved by the end of the book. What Tinkerbell finds over in the Winter Woods changes everything for her, and she’s more determined than ever to find a way to be part of both worlds.
It turns out there’s a reason for it, and she’s determined to find out what it is, despite the Lord of Winter and Queen Clarion’s misgivings. Until Tinkerbell decides to – and notices that her wings sparkle when she gets over to the cold side. The warm weather fairies and the cold weather fairies in Pixie Hollow help one another out all the time, but never venture into The Winter Woods. And I’m not even a Disney Fairies type of girl. But I will say that Papercutz’s adaptation of the Disney Fairies’ 2012 feature film, Secret of the Wings, is adorable.
